Department Profile
Labour & Welfare Department of the district is the district arm of the Department of Labour & Welfare, Govt. of Assam. This department in entrusted with the task of looking after all matters that pertain to the welfare of labour in the organized sector as well as monitoring of labour in the unorganized sector. The labour department has regulatory as well as enforcement functions via powers vested in the same through important acts that are in force like the Minimum Wages Act, Assam Plantation Workers' Act, Child Labour (Prohibition) Act etc. The department in Dima Hasao, as in any other district, is headed by the District Labour Welfare Officer and he/she is aided by a few labour inspectors and office administerial staff.
